Oh geez, where to begin? Sometimes we don’t know how to leave well enough alone. We just poke the bear. I don’t know why. We know we have a good thing going with our little family of four. Everyone has a spot on the couch, everyone is happy. POKE!
We adopted this little alien dog larry almost two years ago and my life had not been the same since. Adam says and frankly please stop bringing it up so often my darling, that if we ever divorce, Larry is the one thing we will not have to fight over. He is clearly my dog and not just because we adopted him on my birthday but because he is my shadow. He has been almost my constant companion since he came home we us.
They said that he was very timid and that was apparent when he wanted nothing to do with us when we took him for our meet and greet. They said that he was transferred up from Tennessee to Massachusetts (sounds so business like) with his 2 brothers Moe and Curley but they had to adopt him out without them because they would beat up on him and he still has the little scars on his face to prove it. My heart is breaking at this time though I will soon learn the truth. They said that he opens up with other dogs but not people so we must have dogs a home. No problem we have 2 though they didn’t seem too impressed by this little runt looking dog, I think Newton even sighed and muttered “not again” under his breath.
But we obviously don’t listen to Newton and home we went, again. We found out pretty quick that this shy little guy is really a little devil dog when he is with other canines. He has no off switch and tenacious would not fully describe him. Those scars, I hate to say it about my little man but I would guess he had them coming. We learned early on that he at 9 months had no house training and needed lots of outlets for his none stop energy. Thus the beginning of my shadow. I work at an animal hospital so Larry comes to work with me everyday (to the relief I believe of his brothers, they enjoy the break). He gets to play with all different dogs in playgroup and frankly it makes my days so much nicer having him with me.
For all of his unruly actions Larry is also a sweet little guy. He follows me from room to room, pokes my legs with his nose for attention, hides all his toys under our bed and very cat-like will attack our feet for fun. He’s weird we know. Franklin adores him and unfortunately for us because at times we think Larry is a little big for his britches, he will let him win or get away with being a little shit. Newton doesn’t put up with as much but still is amused when he decides to run 50 laps around the house then crash into someones legs looking for praise. He is our little monster and though we were very happy as four this weirdo made us complete at 5. Maybe 4 1/2 he is kind of a pip squeak.
Introducing Larry!
They look like happy dogs.
Thanks, I like to think they are. Hopefully as happy as they make me.
