This is a simple salad.  A simple, pretty salad.   It’s not astrophysics.

If it was astrophysics, maybe Neil deGrasse Tyson would walk us through it.  Break down the different parts of this salad and explain it to you and I so it would actually make sense.

He would be so enthusiastic about this salad and the universe around it that you too will want to learn all about it.  You might turn to your loved one and say I think I can wrap my brain around this.  I think I understand it now, sort of, maybe, most of the time.  That how good Neil is.  Can I call him Neil?  Is that to personal?  Well I’m doing it.  Neil makes the universe and astrophysics-worthy salads intelligible and just plain fun.  I think he is the bees knees.

But alas this salad is not astrophysics.  It’s a simple salad that we can easily wrap our heads around.  Thank you Neil deGrasse Tyson your work is done here.

Do you want to know a Jen fact? I love to peel and devein shrimp.  Is that gross?

Sorry.  I can’t pin point what exactly it is I enjoy about it, all I know is that when the task is complete I have a joyous feeling of a job well done.

Maybe it goes with one of my life goals to be an old timey lobster boat captain.  You know, not one of these new fangled ones with a crew and such.  Just me, my boat, some traps, a book for down time and my trusty dog who I always imagine to be an old english sheep dog, working on the water.  I’m not sure if this is an accurate portrayal of how lobster folk worked but I’m going to say it is.

Anyway I have lots of life goals like these and I’m pretty sure they are attainable.  Why can’t I be Patricia Neal’s character in the movie Hud? Her voice and laugh, her perspective, Paul Newman.  Or work the auto factory lines in the forty’s to help our boys overseas.  My gosh the clothes alone and the hair styles.  But I think I’m getting side tracked.

My husband and I took a little road trip this past weekend to visit his parents in New Jersey.  We had a tag along.

We couldn’t bring the whole gang so we had to play the oldest card and Frankie and Larry had their own little adventure at doggie camp.

Newton was magnificent, we had never taken him on such a long trip before and wasn’t sure what his reaction was going to be but he had a blast on the road and at my in-laws.

He thoroughly enjoyed the Thomas Edison Rest Stop on the Jersey Turnpike, you know, because they are both men of science and spending the whole trip being spoiled rotten remembering the good old days when he was the only dog and all attention was aimed at him.  Ah, the salad days.
