Krishna Janmashtami (also Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Astami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, Sree Jayanthi, Janmashtami) is one of the most important Hindu holidays. The birthday of the god Krishna, the eighth incarnation (Avatar) of the god Vishnu. The festival falls on the eighth day of the month of Badhra (August or September in the Gregorian calendar).
