Three nominees. Three lectures. Whoever gets to the heart of their topic best wins the Adlershof dissertation award, endowed with 3,000 euros.

"Energy-efficient transmitter amplifiers for cellular base stations"
Dr.-Ing. Florian Hühn PhD with Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Heinrich, Ferdinand Braun Institute, Leibniz Institute for High Frequency Technology and Technical University of Berlin
Cellular base stations have a significant share in global energy consumption. As part of his doctoral thesis, Dr. Florian Hühn digital transmission amplifiers that can significantly reduce this energy requirement. The amplifiers can be flexibly adapted to future developments, for example to meet the requirements of modern mobile radio standards such as 5G and 6G.

"Reinforce nonlinear optical processes with nanoparticles"
Dr. Fani Madzharova PhD with Prof. Dr. Janina Kneipp, Institute for Chemistry, Humboldt University Berlin
Dr. In her dissertation, Fani Madzharova examined the extent to which weak nonlinear optical processes can be amplified with the aid of nanoparticles in order to enable their use in spectroscopy. She developed multifunctional nanomaterials, which amplify various optical effects, and showed the potential of multiphoton spectroscopy for microscopic examinations of living cells.

"Conflicts in the workplace - when and why do they burden us and what can be done about them?"
Dr. Heidi Mauersberger PhD with Prof. Dr. Ursula Hess, Institute for Psychology, Humboldt University Berlin
Conflicts in the workplace are omnipresent, severely impairing and yet not sufficiently researched. Dr. Heidi Mauersberger has investigated work disputes in a controlled laboratory setting and with the help of a diary design. Your dissertation contributes to a better understanding of the complex ways in which conflicts work in the workplace and shows ways in which negative consequences of conflict can be mitigated.
