How does Elon Musk read

Successful people like Bill Gates and Elon Musk follow this rule

Some of the most successful people of our time follow a rule invented almost 300 years ago by a very famous American: Benjamin Franklin.

He made an impressive career at the age of 84: after only two years of schooling, he started working in his father's soap and candle shop at the age of ten. He died 74 years later a celebrated inventor, successful author, and businessman, and will forever be in the history books as one of the founding fathers of the United States.

He owes this success to his "five-hour rule", which Ian Chew explains in an article for Inc. Franklin devoted an hour each weekday to study and practice. With that he invested five hours every week in his further education.

Even today, the idea of consciously devoting oneself to learning has not gone out of fashion with the world's most successful: Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg all adhere to the teachings of the great statesman in their own individual way.

Warren Buffett spends five to six hours a day reading five daily newspapers and 500 pages of annual reports. Bill Gates reads 50 books a year. Mark Zuckerberg will read at least one book in two weeks. Elon Musk read two books a day when he was young, as his brother reports.

They all understand that the smartest and most successful people are those who learn consciously over the long term.

Of course, one can argue that in this way one loses an hour a day and therefore achieves less. But in the long run, continuous learning is the best investment in the future. You are becoming wiser and more capable and will achieve more and more over the years.

Here are some tips you can use to incorporate the “five-hour rule” into your everyday life, even if it doesn't have to be exactly five hours, of course.
