What is special about the word SHIVA

Hinduism developed more than 3,000 years ago. The nomadic people of the Aryans had already settled in India beforehand. Over time, their beliefs and the religions of the indigenous people of India grew together to form a new religion. This is how Hinduism came into being.

More than 4,000 years ago, people lived in a highly developed culture on the Indus River. This is the name given to a society that was very modern in its time. The Indian culture of that time is called the Indus culture or Harappa culture. Researchers suspect that the people there already worshiped the Hindu god Shiva at that time.

Around 1,750 years before the birth of Christ, the nomadic people of the Aryans immigrated to India from the northwest. For many centuries it ruled the indigenous people of India. When both peoples and with them their religions gradually grew together over a long period of time, Hinduism emerged from this.

Hindus themselves call their religion "Sanatana Dharma". That means "eternal order". It is not made by humans, but according to the belief of the Hindus it has always arranged everything that is: the universe, nature, people, animals and plants. Hindus believe that the gods revealed knowledge of this order to the wise since primeval times. And they also believe that Hinduism is an eternal religion. That is why many Hindus still pass on the knowledge of the gods and the wise to their children today.
