Ticket scandal! | What role does FIFA play?

The ticket scandal at the World Cup - now the investigators are taking a close look at Fifa!

Under the direction of the Brazilian public prosecutor Marcos Kac, the role of the world association in black market transactions is to be examined this week.

Kac told the English newspaper "Sunday Times": "This will be the largest investigation into the illegal sale of World Cup tickets."

Tens of thousands of tickets, including those from VIP packages, had hit the black market and were sold at inflated prices.

The damage according to the "Sunday Times": 73.5 million euros.

The Brazilian police arrested gang leader Lamine Fofana and ten other people on July 1.

The illegally sold tickets are all said to come from ticket manager Ray Whelan (64) who works for Fifa partner "Match".

The Briton was released on bail after twelve hours of pre-trial detention. His passport was taken from him - but he is still on the run.

His lawyers had announced that he would surrender - which had not happened until Sunday morning, Brazilian time.

Interpol is now also involved in the investigation into the ticket scandal.
