The touching story of Tom and Hannah, which can be found in "Love is a bad loser", is a declaration of love for life and love that can inspire many people, and it gets four stars from me. The content of the book made me quite curious, because I found it incredibly exciting to find out how a stroke patient finds his way back to life and I was very curious to see whether the author would manage to tell the story of re-emerging love without being too cheesy be. She actually succeeded in doing this, which was partly due to the precisely designed characters, which one immediately grew dear to the heart, no matter how terrible they said or did. For example, Tom completely ignored the needs of his wife in his work stress and not only neglected her, but also let his frustration out on her by always pointing out her weaknesses to Hannah. Nevertheless, one could understand his feelings, and at the same time understand why Hannah stayed with him for so long and put her wishes and dreams behind him. The reason for this was her love, which seemed to fade over time and she wanted to leave him. But love is a bad loser, as the title of the book says so beautifully, that Tom suffered a stroke, which shuffled the cards again. Hannah leaves her apprenticeship in Tanzania to concentrate fully on her husband and his recovery. It was touching to read how Tom made his first attempts to walk and almost drowned in shame. He manages to swallow all his disappointment and despair, which I find incredibly admirable, and does not give up in his struggle to come back to life. With "Love is a bad loser" Katie Marsh wrote a declaration of love for life that shines with authentic characters and shows everyone what you can achieve as long as you believe in yourself.
