With G DATA Mobile Security for Android, you can use our malware scanner to examine your device memory or your downloads for malware such as Trojans, viruses or spyware and analyze the permissions of installed apps in order to track down suspicious behavior and phishing.

G DATA Mobile Security for Android comprises several components in which we process personal data. You can find detailed information on the individual modules below:

 

Malware Scan / Malware Information Initiative

G DATA Mobile Security for Android carries out malware scans to identify malware, detect suspicious application behavior and improve our detection techniques. For this purpose, we process unique identifiers (IMEI, IMSI, IP address, random ID) for each device and application installation and files identified as potentially harmful by our application. In addition, we protect you during malware scans with the cloud solution from our technology partner Bitdefender. This data is processed to fulfill our contract with you for the use of G DATA Mobile Security for Android. We use this data for statistical analysis of malware found and its spread.

If you have consented to participate in the Malware Information Initiative, we process additional personal data for malware scans based on your consent, e.g. complete file paths and the number of applications installed on your device. We use this information to improve our applications and for statistical evaluations of malware found.

 

App registration / in-app purchases

If you decide to purchase a license for G DATA Mobile Security for Android, we will ask you during the registration process for your name, address, contact address (email) and, if applicable, the name of the dealer to carry out the license registration. Thank you for your interest in G DATA products. The protection and security of the data of our customers and users are important to us. We have therefore designed our products and our business processes in such a way that as little personal data as possible is collected or processed. The G DATA QR Code Generator app creates QR codes from the information you have entered so that you can pass them on securely and easily.

 

Download our app from the App Store

When downloading our app, the following data in particular are automatically processed by the respective operator of the app store (Google Play):

The contents of the QR codes are never recorded.

 

G DATA Analytics

We use G DATA Analytics to analyze app usage. The data obtained from this is used to optimize our app and advertising measures. G DATA Analytics is an analysis service operated and provided by us, G DATA CyberDefense AG, Königsallee 178, 44799 Bochum, Germany. The legal basis for data processing is your voluntarily given consent (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a) GDPR).

While you are using the app, the following data is recorded:

  • • Device manufacturer and model
  • • the installed Android version
  • • dealing with QR codes (creation, editing and deletion)

• your IP address

This data is transmitted to a G DATA server in Germany and is not passed on to third parties. The server receives this data and extracts the information. The IP address is then discarded. For the server-side assignment of the data, a randomly generated user ID is transmitted, with which future data can be grouped. The recorded data are saved together with the randomly generated user ID, which enables pseudonymous user profiles to be evaluated. However, it is not possible for us to draw any conclusions about your person after the IP address has disappeared.

The stored data is automatically deleted every 12 months.

If you do not agree to the recording, you can do this at any time within the app under the menu item "Help us!" switch off with effect for the future.
