How does IT affect teaching and learning

Digitization strategy “School 4.0” - how IT can create new forms of teaching and learning! #TopCIO Heidrun Strohmeyer, BMB

Women are rather sparsely represented among the Austrian CIOs - what is different when a woman takes on this role?

Basically there is actually no difference. Professional management and good leadership are important, as in other specialist areas. Sometimes the gender distribution in the teams is very unbalanced and the men are very much in the majority. It is important to ensure that more women complete technical training and take up IT professions.

What would be your three pieces of advice to women entering the CIO role?

It is important to approach the task with an open mind and self-confidently and to ensure a good working atmosphere in the project team. The function is a strategic key role in the overall organization, which must be performed with a lot of social competence and good communication. This applies equally to men and women.

What does the CIO AWARD mean for you?

I believe that it is particularly important to make IT services visible. A functioning IT infrastructure is the basis for learning and working in the digital age. IT is often an issue when something does not work, the more important it is to recognize the positive effects of IT. The many interesting and innovative activities and projects are always planned and implemented by committed people and teams. The CIO AWARD brings these up to the process and gives an impressive overview of the achievements of the Austrian IT landscape. Many Thanks!
