What does one mean with NX software

Siemens NX - Integrated solutions for CAD, CAM and CAE

With NX you can solve complex construction tasks quickly and flexibly

The NX software (formerly: Unigraphics) is a comprehensive solution with a multitude of tools for product development in the engineering sector. Both NX CAD for engineering and NX CAE for simulation and NX CAM for manufacturing help you cope with the increasing complexity of products while improving the performance and capacity of the entire development process.

The areas of application of the NX construction software range from mechanical construction, vehicle construction, industrial and packaging design, tool construction to NC machining and mechanical and electromechanical simulation.

Especially in the automotive industry, NX is of particular importance after the automobile manufacturer Daimler AG from CATIA® has switched to NX from Siemens.

Choose Siemens NX

These are your advantages

Construction, simulation and manufacturing

Siemens NX supplies the designer with integrated tools for CAD, CAM and CAE which, in combination, cover the entire engineering range in product development and production.

With NX CAD the designer can handle very complex geometries and large assemblies more easily than with other CAD systems. Thanks to synchronous technology, you can also use the unique combination of direct and parameter-controlled modeling methodology. This means that you are not only faster in design, but also more flexible when making changes.

With NX CAE Engineers use simulation functions for structural, thermal, flow and multiphysics calculations. The precise simulation results enable you to significantly reduce the production of expensive prototypes. NX CAE can also be seamlessly integrated into the Teamcenter simulation data and process management module.

NX CAM is a comprehensive tool for parts production with a range of services ranging from NC programming and high-speed milling to multi-axis machining.

NX can be seamlessly integrated into Siemens Teamcenter Integrate PDM / PLM. So you have z. B. Full access to Teamcenter information within NX. For example, you can manage the fully classified equipment library using Teamcenter PDM and the designer in production can call it up directly from NX.

First steps with Siemens NX

When changing the CAD system, you are often faced with a few problems: functions “hide” behind other names, commands are not in the usual place, what construction methods are there for part modeling? etc.

With our video course we would like to make it easier for you to get started with Siemens NX. We will show you the first steps with the CAD software and give you an overview of the most important functions.

Free tool: NX Advanced Export

With this free NX tool, you can create several export formats (e.g. STL, STEP, DWG) via more efficient interfaces much more easily and quickly.

Started from the model view, the export formats STL, STEP and a JPG of the selected view can be created. If you start the tool from the drawing environment, the export formats DWG, DXF and a PDF of the current view are available.

NX Automotive

NX is the new standard in the automotive industry, especially since the car manufacturer Daimler AG switched from CATIA® (Dassault Systèmes) to Siemens NX. At that time, Daimler decided to switch from CATIA to NX because CATIA V6 could not be integrated into Daimler's Smaragd PLM system (Smaragd is based on Teamcenter). The automobile manufacturer would therefore have needed the Enovia® PLM system for CATIA, but would have been able to continue working with the Smaragd system when switching to NX. Since Daimler's processes were already efficiently and automatically embedded in Smaragd and a change to PDM would have affected all company processes, the decision was ultimately made to change the CAD system. The major project was completed in 2015 and the NX software is now in use at Daimler.

This switch is now also putting the automotive industry's suppliers under pressure, because Daimler is demanding native NX data from you.

There are therefore a number of NX software bundles (Automotive Supplier Program) especially for the automotive industry. In addition, NX offers a wide range of standard interfaces, a CATIA direct interface and full support of the JT 3D data standard for flexible data exchange.

NX videos

In this NX tutorial, we are going to show you how to change hole sizes and hole patterns using synchronous design.

With the continuous release versions NX 1926 and NX 1953, new functions and commands have been added for this purpose.
