How to submit the ITR-1 Sahaj form online

To make tax compliance easier, the tax department has divided taxpayers into many teams based mainly on revenue and what is available. Therefore, you must submit your returns accordingly. ITR-1 is also known as the Sahaj form and is for people with a turnover of up to Rs. 50 lakhs.

Sahaj stands for “straightforward” in Hindi, and any employee, along with retirees, household retirees, and individuals who earn income from curiosity, can use this form to submit ITR.

Any documentation attached to this return form is irrelevant and will be returned to the person submitting the return. In ITR-1, you need to provide general data corresponding to identification, PAN, etc.

Who is eligible to submit the ITR-1 form:

  • A person who has income from wages / pension.
  • A person who has income from One Home Property (except in the circumstances where the loss of space was introduced earlier years ago).
  • A person who has income from various sources (other than winning the lottery and income from racehorses).
  • In the case of Clubbed Earnings Tax Returns, the location where a partner or minor is included may be carried out, provided their earnings meet the above specifications.

Structure of the ITR-1 form:

  • Part A: Private information.
  • Part B: Gross Overall Result.
  • Part C: Deductions and Total Taxable Income.
  • Part D: Tax Calculation and Tax {Status}.
  • Schedule IT: information on input tax and self-assessment tax funds.
  • Appendix TDS1: Information on tax deducted from wages on delivery (according to Form 16, issued by the employer).
  • Appendix TDS2: Information on tax deducted on delivery from income other than wages (according to Form 16A, issued by the deductor (s)).
  • Supplementary schedules TDS1, TDS2 and IT.

How to submit the ITR-1 Sahaj form:

You can submit your ITR-1 form both online and offline. As of Currency Month 12th 2013-14, all taxpayers earning more than Rs. 5 lakhs should file their income tax returns electronically.


  • By providing a return in the form of a body paper.
  • By providing a barcode return.
  • The Income Tax Department will send you a confirmation at the time of submitting your physical paper return.

Online / electronic:

  • By sending the return electronically with a digital signature.
  • By electronically submitting the information and then submitting the verification of the return in the ITR-V return form.

When you submit your ITR-1 form electronically using the digital signature, the confirmation will be sent to your registered email ID. You can select {also} to get it manually from the sales tax website. You must then signal it and send it to the Earnings Tax Division CPC workstation in Bangalore within 120 days of the electronic filing.

Documents required to complete the ITR-1 form:

  • Form 16s issued by all of your employers for the specified 12 months.
  • Form 26AS - Be sure to confirm that the TDS mentioned on Form 16 matches the TDS in Half A of your Form 26AS.
  • If you were not prepared to provide your employer with proof of certain exemptions or deductions (corresponding to HRA allowances or part 80C or 80D deductions) in good time, please keep these documents in order to declare them directly in your income tax return.
  • PAN card.
  • Curiosity when checking account details - savings book for financial institutions or FD certificates.
