The Four Seasons - Ballet by Guido Markowitz to music by Antonio Vivaldi based on Max Richter

New ballet based on a masterpiece from the Baroque era, sensually transferred into the 21st century.

Antonio Vivaldi's “Four Seasons” - they are among the most beautiful works from the Baroque era. Published in 1725 by the Venetian composer, the four atmospheric violin concertos still inspire today as gorgeous musical portraits of nature through the ages. Regardless of whether spring beckons, the heat of summer, the abundance of autumn or the cold of winter - the transmission of events in nature in its diverse manifestations in music is overwhelming. The German-British composer
Max Richter recomposed Vivaldi's masterpiece in 2012 and catapulted it into the 21st century - shimmering and dynamic expanding into the resonance of the present.

Fascinated by this reworking of an old piece of music, Guido Markowitz concentrates on the existential forces in the world and nature in his reinterpretation for the Pforzheim Ballet Theater. Both the doctrine of the four elements and the physicality of the human being in his life phases serve as important sources of inspiration for his new, cross-generational choreographic project.
