Are LIC guidelines worthwhile in 2019

System Center 2019

Last updated: December 15, 2020

The Microsoft System Center 2019 products are suitable for the management of physical and virtualized IT environments. With the integrated and automated management solutions, you get dynamic IT with reduced costs. Nothing has changed in terms of licensing and, like Windows Server 2019, the servers will continue to be licensed according to cores.

Client management licenses are available for other managed devices such as desktop operating systems. These are licensed according to OSE or users.

System Center 2019 licensing and pricing

System Center licenses are available for the managed devices (servers or desktops) needed. Management Server or the SQL technology that had to be licensed separately in the previous version are included as standard in System Center 2019.

Server management licenses (ML) Standard or Datacenter are required for managed devices with a server operating system (OSE - Operating System Environment). The two server management licenses already contain all individual System Center products. You cannot book these individually.

Devices with a desktop operating system are managed with the Client Management Licenses (ML). With System Center 2019, in contrast to System Center 2016, there are only client management licenses as individual products and no suite.

Authorized to manage a server of up to 2 virtual machines, provided all cores on the hardware are licensed. Suitable for environments that do not have many virtualized servers. All System Center products are included.
