We celebrated Newton’s 12th birthday this past week.  Yay Noodle!

No big party.

No hats or streamers.  No hoopla

What we did have for our beagle’s big day was cake.

A cake that has caused a terrible case of puppy madness.  Yes puppy madness.  It is a real thing and could happen to your dog too!

Symptoms of puppy madness include but are not limited to:  pulling out all the tricks, sad eyes, big ears, endless pawing, lunging toward cake, whining at the refrigerator, uncontrollable bursts of energy and doing laps around the house to get your attention, drooling and of course begging.  Endless begging to get more, more, more cake!

What kind of birthday cake can bring this about you ask?  Well I’ll tell you. We have discovered that we have some sweet potato hounds in our household.  They go bonkers for the yam!

Because one of my boys turned 5 this week, because my husband loves me and is my biggest supporter, because I have photography showing at a gallery this month (ooh la la, fancy me), because I made doughnuts (recipe soon) and tried lots of new recipes this week, because there was a crisp chill in the air these past few mornings, because at the end of the day no matter how tired or overworked I am I love these pooches and I hope I make their days a little bit brighter.

My eyes are bleary today and I’m a tad exhausted.  I volunteered to have our Animal Hospital take part in our local Shelters 2nd Annual Paws for Celebration and for the past few weeks we have been getting ready.  Well, it was this past Sunday and it was a fantastic success.  After a week of rain the sun came out to play and so did tons of dogs.

I was in heaven meeting all the pups who stopped by our booth that I may of even talked to a few of their owners.  It was all just to meet their dogs!
