cabbage soup 2

What gives mother nature?

It’s still cold.

My daffodils want to know what’s up and my ankle socks say hey, were ready.

Jen fact: I can only handle two lengths of socks if any at all.

Knee-high or ankle.  Anything in-between is just weird.

Any who, I guess I’m not in a big outrage.  I’m still figuring out a good schedule for myself and I would hate to think I missed spring.

Plus the chill in the air means it is still a good time for soup!

cabbage

Huzzah for soup!

This one has a nice kick to it thanks to the mustard, ginger and caraway seeds.  Raise your hands if caraway seeds make you swoon.

No one, is that odd? I just mean that caraway seeds take whatever they’re in up to 11.  It’s a fact, you know it, it’s okay if you don’t want to say.

soup starters

I would totally bring this cabbage soup to your house if you were sick. It is brothy and vegetabley and spicy and is gonna make you want to eat it everyday for lunch, I did.

You should too, even beagle was intrigued.  Silly beagle, soup is for me.  and you!

kale walnut salad 2

I don’t know about you guys but when I get home from work I am hard-wired to eat.

I’m not ready for dinner per say.  In fact we are late eaters but I do need something.

I try to be proactive and have something good for me waiting.

kale walnut salad

You know, like this.  Something good and delicious and easy to get at so I don’t just jam handfuls of cheez-its and jelly beans into my face.  It happens, it’s not pretty looking.

Well that’s where this salad came about. I prepped it on a Sunday and thought it should get me through Wednesday.  You are one smart cookie Jennifer.  You got this adult thing figured out.

What you don’t have figured out is how not to keep “taste-testing” this amazing salad on Sunday and then eat all of it on Monday!

mushroom kale soup This is one of those soups that I made knowing full well husband will not be eating.  One word, mushrooms.  It’s the food that’s a deal breaker with him.  He is a very persnickety eater if you haven’t picked up on that yet but sometimes he can be persuaded to give something a shot.  But mushrooms, that’s not going to happen.  One mushroom will cause an entire meal to be inedible to him.  If they are on pizza, well we don’t get them on pizza because they leave a vile taste even if picked off.  His words not mine.

garlic

Since I happen to be a fan of the mushroom I decided to try it with this garlic soup as its base because my husband wasn’t on board with that either.  Geez.  The upside to a soup just for me with no chance of Adam wanting any is that I can really swing for the stars and add some kale to the mix.  What drives me to take such risks?  Soup is on and it is delicious and it is all mine.  And yours if you want.

Are you lamenting the end of summer?  Well than you probably want to skip ahead a couple of sentences.

Ready?  Have you looked away?  O.k.  Here we go.

Yippie!!!!

So long summer chumps, hello what I like to consider the greatest of all seasons, FALL!!!

Oh my, I’m sorry.  I don’t what came over me.  I am very tired from still having no days off.  Maybe that’s it.  Sorry about the whole chump thing.  I feel dreadful on the inside, sinserly…But I did warn you.  Lets call it even.  I’ll make you a salad for old summer-time sake.
